Is this a good representation of the colour BA? I reaaly struggle to capture the blues.

The blue is probably a little strong in the picture, AG. I am experimenting with exposure when taking flowers in bright sunshine and, for some reason, it intensifies the blues. I did not post a picture of a different potted iris taken against an off white background and the background came out blue!

I always thought of iris as being on the tall/large size but this looks lovely and compact. I must investigate iris further as I plan for our "new" garden.

This is one of the bulbous irises. There are many varieties available as bulbs from the garden centres in summer. For us, different varieties start flowering in January and will continue into early April. They tend to be about four to six inches tall.
On my page I have an advert for mixed reticulata iris (the same thing) right alongside this answere!
