Clematis Avalanche with an added intruder sharing the limelight!

Clematis Avalanche with an added intruder sharing the limelight!

I bought this beauty at local diy store. It's an evergreen Clematis, and it's pretty stunning. The intruder popping its head in among the blossom is a Camellia.

Wow, when does it flower?

12 Mar, 2010

Thanks for comments Irish and Bornagain. I think it flowers in late Spring, but will have to scramble over the garden furniture to check the label for sure. I will get back to you to confirm Ba, am hoping it has survived the winter!

OOPS! Sorry Ba,lol! I wish you great success with your new addition, I don't think you'll be disappointed, and if I can give you any tips to help, let me know, Blimey, I sound like a gardener tee hee :o)))))))) X

buisness is no problem Flori, I make all my own cards, thats why I suggested you use the photo's see Bornagain has already ordered one. !!!!!

13 Mar, 2010

Er, I think that's the Clematis, Yorkshire lol! Clever you doing your own cards though, it really does make that personal touch extra special. I have a neighbour that makes her own too.Tell you what though, I can wack up a ditty or two to go into our budding 'Business' venture, what do you think? lol :o))))))) x

Have we got another poet on line? We'll have to have a 'poetry' category...where's Terra?

13 Mar, 2010

Well Ba, I thought I'd add this little ditty, cos I thought it might be witty, and the info you was after I would seek, so I sent my other 'alf, just to fill this little task, to the garden just to take a little peek. I can hear you thinking, is Flori ravin??, what's the link-in?, but the answer you required I now show, Clem Avalanche goes blooming, and as I guessed, will soon be looming, in late Springtime, so there, the answer now you know! Oh, my brain hurts now!!!!!!!!:o((( Hee hee! xxx

Yo Flo..is you puttin' it to music? :-)

14 Mar, 2010

Well Ba, not quite into rapping, but can do a mean Jazz rendition if it would fit ha ha! :o))))))) x

Probably prefer it, have you a tune in mind? do you write your own songs? There are so many talented people on here.......it's not fair;-)

I've just bought one Tommymoo, it's full of buds. That's the problem with this site...too many lovely things:-)

1 Apr, 2010

Am really glad you like this Tommy, thank you for getting in touch and leaving a comment :~)) Am hoping my one survived the frosts ok! I wish you great success when you get yours :~)) I couldn't agree with you more Ba, my wish list just gets longer each day I log in! My garden not a bad size, but could do with several acres for all the wonderful unusual plants I come across on GoY, have never had plant envy before, but I think I've got it now!!! ha ha ha :~))

Oh yes, you can say that again, Bornagain and Floribunda! This site is very bad. Infectious. My shopping list gets more and more plants everyday.

1 Apr, 2010

Isn't that the truth Tommy!!! I never knew there could be so many different varieties of even the well known plants. The fantastic close ups of the plants help, as give you the detail it is so easy to overlook in a GC. This site feeds my every interest; Macro photography, Design,Sunsets, Seasonal changes Pets, and wonderful Humour, and of course, Plants, plants, plants~how lucky am I stumbling across GoY?!!!!!! Am so hoping you get as much out of it as I do :~))

Does your avalanche grow on a trellis? I'm not sure how much shelter it will need. I'm growing mine in a container, do you think it needs a wall?:-)

9 Apr, 2010

Hi Ba! I've planted mine against a panelled wooden fence, with trellis for it to grow up, so it's very sheltered as not too sure how hardy it is. It's looking quite sorry for itself at mo, and it doesn't help that Raff has decided it is his favourite plant to relieve himself either, as I have just found out grrrrrrr! Giving it some protective shelter might not be a bad idea, though weather has been a joy over last few days here in Wiltshire, but until it has developed good root growth in its pot, it might be worth being a little overprotective just to be sure. Clematis are a shocking price now in GCs, so a little bit of caution might save you any heartache later my friend! Hope that helps answer your query :~)))x

It does, thanks Flori, it's absolutely full of buds and I managed to repot her before my foot got too bad:-)
