thanx yorkshire, we did all the work and the neighbour was great and got the concrete panels, i was out when they came and the men put the good side of the fence on his side and he cant even see it as he has the tall trees grr, not sure if we can turn them as the end one had to be forced in so tight, anyway baz will take a look at weekend and if we can turn them we will before painting
16 Mar, 2010
correct me if I am wrong but I thought the good side should face the neighbour San,
16 Mar, 2010
i think if its their fence and they pay then yes it should be faces them, but we took the old one down and took 2 bins of his ivy away to get at it and bourght the fence, so i thought if you buy it then you get the good side, otherwise wouldnt you end up with all backsides, excuse expression lol

I said correct me if I'm wrong, I have had a look at our garden fence which we paid for and the chaps who put it all up have faced the good side to us,, I agree San get it changed you don't want to be looking at your neighbours backside all summer!!!!

Is it a Phyllostachys type Sandra ? If so, I'll tell you now, they're a nuisance as I'd always wanted a Bamboo, too pricey, got a Tax rebate and bought one in 2003. Planted it in a log roll edged raised bed, it grew so much with runners beneath that the log roll edging was forced over and little shoots popped up all over the place ! It's a really determined plant, grew through the plastic barrier I'd sunk in the ground around it ! Finally it, won and was removed in 2007, an awful job. Vowed then if I ever had Bamboo again, it would go in a pot ! You have been warned ! lol

lol oh dear, ive read up and said could be controlled, i will get a big playtoy bucket if you know what i mean thanx megan :o))

My fence panelx are green.
16 Mar, 2010
yes mine to carol, i much prefere them green, brightens the garden up :o)
16 Mar, 2010
Lol!! Your neighbours' backside! ha ha! Hope you get it changed! I have phyllostachys too and I just noticed that one clump is sending up shoots. They are quite near the clump though. I read up on it and it said it was 'clump forming' rather than spreading, so i'll be annoyed if I end up having to remove it. However, I suppose a sharp spade through the offending bits might do the trick as long as we keep on top of it and don't turn our backsides for a moment!
16 Mar, 2010
Well Sandra I have mine in a very large pot sunk in the ground and upto date I havent had any problems, so good luck with yors they are lovely plants enjoy the movent and lovely rustling sound in the breeze;0)
17 Mar, 2010
I love the sound of bamboos and the black ones are stunning to look at. Enjoy it, Sanbaz :)
17 Mar, 2010
lol karen i think your right if you keep on top of it should be ok for u :o))
thanx carole you said yours was in pot so baz going to get a very large builders bucket, which are like a childrens toy bucket with handle at each side, so that should be big enough :o)
Gee i looked at the green and yellow ones but like you say the black are stunning, i love them swaying to and the sound :o))
17 Mar, 2010
Yes, I agree, the sound is amazing. I found another amazing sounding plant tody though.....the beech tree....you know, the one that hangs on to the dead leaves over the winter. I was walking in the park and could hear all this lovely rustling and it was the sound of the dried out beech leaves....lovely!
18 Mar, 2010
yes i know the ones you mean karen, i see a few on my way to work, look great to even though the leaves look dead, certain sounds are so relaxing to hear, :o)
18 Mar, 2010

Well I wouldn't mind Alan T scrabbling in my bed (floral, of course!), and getting down and dirty in the soil with my favourite sex god ha ha ha! Do I sound like I need some medical help Sanbaz??? :-0 Lol X
20 Mar, 2010
yup lol haaha :o)
20 Mar, 2010
Am on medication as we speak, but I don't think it's helping Sanbaz! I just have to see him in B&Q, and I go weak at the knees, though he is a little stiff there, guess being a cardboard cutout he would be wouldn't you? lol!!!! Maybe I should up my meds...............:-))
22 Mar, 2010
lol flori ive seen the cardboard alan, he does have that certain something i must say :o))
22 Mar, 2010
Has got to be the twinkle in the eyes I think Sanbaz, and don't you just love a man who can get down and dirty like that? Or maybe thats just me! Just something very 'earthy' about Alan,I know I could quite happily bloom for him hee hee hee!!!!
22 Mar, 2010
lol cracking me up here flori hahah, know what you mean though :o))
22 Mar, 2010
Am so glad I'm making you smile San :o)), hubby has just located my pretty white jacket that does up at the back, and can hear the ambulance outside, but I still insist mr T my sex god of bedding, baskets, decking and upright erections ie; Pergolas, no-one can dampen my Arbour, and he can prune my shrubbery when ever he likes! (They are dragging me off the keyboard and out the door nowwwwwwwww!!!!!!) Ps, would you like a visitors permit, I could be away a while??????
22 Mar, 2010
lol flori, i bet you watched allan lastnight didnt you, well teatime when his program on, and went past B&Q today and started laughing, my son thought i had gone mad hahah, will come and see you flori no probs :o)
23 Mar, 2010
Ah thanks San, Spritz is convinced I've lost the plot with the wacky conversation, (and I do use that word lightly), we had this afternoon, so you will be in great company. I think she will go just to make sure I stay incarcerated! lol! B&Q just won't be the same ever again! Hmm, wonder if I talk nicely to them If I can take him home with me, will just have to sweet talk the husband...........
23 Mar, 2010
i bet they would let you have the cardbourd allan after use if you asked flori lol
23 Mar, 2010
Have got a horrible feeling I would just be one in a long line of women of a certain age wanting to take him home lol San, maybe I could smuggle him out! See if you lived over my way, I could get you to create a diversion, while I whipped him out the door hee hee hee! :o))
25 Mar, 2010
lol flori reminds me of when me and baz went to rescue a budleja plant growing in path near us, i did a blog on it, you should read it flori, budleja rescue lol
25 Mar, 2010
Oh, so your an old hand at this then, San, sounds like I've found my perfect partner in crime! Watch out B&Q, here we come........(Oh, can it wait while I just read your blog? it might give me some as ideas, as you and Baz have 'previous'), hahaha! LOL x
25 Mar, 2010
ahahaha baz said never again will he go out with me to rescue anything lol was funny though :o))
25 Mar, 2010
HAHAHA! Great blog on budleja rescue, and such funny comments posted San, or should that be Bonnie and sidekick, Clyde? I think you two are in one of those identity protection programmes, OOPS! heeheehee. Did the plant survive after all this cloak and dagger stuff San???
25 Mar, 2010
it lost all leaves so cut it back and havent seen new buds as yet, anyway bourght one at carboot just incase lol, pretty tough so it may start up again :o)
25 Mar, 2010
It's really tough to kill to off to be honest San, I've got some growing in my front garden inbetween concrete, and that has just self seeded, cos we didn't plant it there, yet it's growing like mad! It's more like a weed really, but a beautiful one at that! Don't they say a weed is just a flower that growing in the wrong place?lol! Hope yours show signs of renewed life soon my friend. :~))
25 Mar, 2010
thanx flori, i like them cause attract butterflies :o)
25 Mar, 2010
They tend to be true survivors San! Have no idea how my ones out the front are living as there is no earth there at all, just flags on top of concrete! Love the fact that they attract wildlife though, all good in my book lol. :~))
25 Mar, 2010
sure is :o))
25 Mar, 2010
San! how is the black bamboo doing now Hun? I had one I. My old garden but tbh it didn't do so well. My yellow ones here have been in the soil for two years now and so far so good.
30 Sep, 2013
I planted in very large plastic tub then hurried that, its OK but have to say not very black lol,
But living so will keep it for height,
Think Angela has one and strips her leaves so just to have black cane which looks good in her garden xx
30 Sep, 2013
Yes, I do that every spring with mine too.
30 Sep, 2013
I must try that then karen :-)
30 Sep, 2013
Yes, just about half way up from the bottom. By sept, they will have re sprouted new leaves, but it does look effective for a few months.
