I removed the old leaves from the plant's crown - what a relief to find new growth after the cold winter.

I was soooo pleased to see the Gunnera had survived. Thanks, Toto.
Sandra - f you'd asked whether a Gunnera could be grown in a pot, I'd have said 'no'. It gets so big! BUT, yes, you can split them.

I've spotted green new growth on my gunneras too Spritz, what a relief. Leaves still tightly tucked under at the moment so I'll leave mine covered for a little longer.

I'm glad, Dawn. It was a bit of a worry, wasn't it!

You have my eternal envy... I wanted to plant gunnera...there is drama even in the emergent leaves, aye? After doing a bit of reading, I found that It would not have survived our winters...although this past one was much shorter than some have been... so I decided against it...sigh... However...can report that the Brunnera that I bought is coming up and seems to have weathered it's second winter in fine shape...Gunnera or Brunnera ...it's all about those lovely big leaves!!

Well done! Shame about Gunneras, though. We have to protect them in the UK, even in milder areas.
