Real nice color. I have one very similar in color called Apple Blossom . Love it when they last a while.

Thank you. These were more a pink stripe last year. The most unusual thing about this is how huge it is. Stands very tall and has a strong fragrance.

Lovely close up shot GT I didn't know they had a scent :-)

Thanks Rp. They don't often, this is the only of mine that does smell. A real added bonus. This one is worth a search, really wonderful.

Mine were much taller than usual this past winter like yours. Friends that have then=m said the same thing. Wonder why that is...

Lovely photo of your Amaryllis, GT! I love the colour as well. Like Richard I didn't know that had any scent & I've been growing them almost continuously since a sister of mine gave me one for Christmas back in 1981!
My red one is in full flower now. All 4 flowers are open today, Easter Monday! It has given me at least one flower stem each year, some years two & it's even flowered twice in the same year!
The two it shares a pot with show no signs of flower buds as yet. They may flower later in the year. One is pure white but the other is red with a white stripe down each petal.

Balcony, this is the only one I've encountered with a smell. Its really wonderful. Alas, the weight of the blooms broke the stem today, but I've got it in a vase now where it should give me a week more. The second stem is starting up.
Mike, this one is just big. Last year the blooms were much larger but still a good 3ft tall on the stem. This one is unusual and wonderful. The nursery I acquired it from really scored on this order.

What a shame the stem broke! It should last a little longer in water. I'd love to get this bulb - I'd then trying crossing it with the ones I have now! Perhaps, after waiting for 4 years for them to flower, I'd find a few with scent! I could then propagate them & become rich & supplement my pension!

Great plan! :-)) LOL. Its well worth having.

My seedling Amaryllis are all opening their very first flowers this weekend - after waiting 4 years for them to flower!
Unfortunately most of them seem to be red at present. There is only one white at present which may have some red feathering in it.
In about a week's time I'll make up a blog & include some photos of them.

What a lovely colour, never heard of a scented one. Must fill your home with its lovely perfume. Must look out for them.

Talking about broken stems, one of the first of the whites with the red veining did the same as your plant only it didn't break all the way.I didn't even realize it had broken till the flowers finished & I tried to remove the dead flowers. The stem came away in my hand, much to my surprise!!! 3/4 of the stem had broken & it was only being held up by the cane I'd put in! Yet it continued to flower for almost two weeks!

Thank you Shinobi. It does fill the house, very pleasant.
Maybe if another breaks I'll stake it up. Sounds like the flower has better success still feeding through the attached circulatory system.

I agree there, GT. I thought something like that as well. Don't want to try it on a stem of another flower, just in case!

Only in dire circumstance...lol.

This morning while I accompanied my wife to work one of the plants fell over & dragged another one with it! Fortunately no harm came to either of the two plants. :-)
