Lovely colour> Are these easy to grow I am going to take the 'plunge# this year - haven't got a clue how to look after camellias except that they like acid soil. Hows the rest of the garden hows the veg doing? My oions are just poking through! and the beetroot is showing thats it

Hi Great...As your not that far from me you may find your soil is ok for Camellias....Are there any growing in gardens around you? thats always a good sign....If not just mix some ericaceous compost in with the soil and it will be fine. The rest of the garden is beginning to wake up I can see the 1st parsnips and beetroot are beginning to poke through now and the cauliflower and brussells are showing in the cold frame too All the shrubs are beginning to get fattened up buds. Its lovely...My favorite time of year. Just wish the weather would warm up a bit....

Hello Maureen yeah its really cold isn't it. Saw a Gold Finch in the garden today that made my day!!. Seen many birds carrying bits and bobs for their nests, no inhabitants in my bird boxes but I am still hoping. You make me laugh; people round here don't use their gardens; well only to have a fag. Nasty habit. The 2 gardens either side of me are over grown no one goes out there. Wish I could have their space. In another life. There are cameillas in Greenwich park does that count?
