They will, David, much better than my idea of bamboo AND you can eat them!

Bamboo would be good, too, Gee. I used to have 3 large ones in a previous garden, which I (stupidly) left behind. They would have been ideal.

What a pity, David. Perhaps someone on GoY might be overrun with bamboo and would be willing to supply some :)
