Mmmm was intrigued and had a look in RHS encyclopedia. Couldn't find it, but it does look a bit like a saxifrage in there - saxifraga frederici augustii. does it have a pink hairy flower stem later?

Ive got another photo which I'll put on, which shows more of the plant. Not sure if its saxifrage Karen, I cant remember what the flowers are like, derrrr. Thanks for looking it up. I'll post that photo now.

Rhodiola rosea (sedum rosea) just planted it in my garden today, very strange looking plant at this time of year :-)
