Out of the window...

Out of the window...

Part of the front garden early this morning. The stream runs behind the wall, under a bridge and comes out again at the top left of the photo.

What a fab garden? Does your stream run all year?

14 Apr, 2010

Yes, it's a natural one. it has been known to rise alarmingly after heavy rain - and cut the village off from civilisation! That happens about four times a year. It's come onto our lowest piece of lawn several times, and washed away the wooden steps I use to get down onto the bank PLUS the plants I'd put there a couple of weeks before! I wrote a blog about it...I'll try to find it so you can look at what happens!

Our stream does the same - covering up all types flowers, but quite a few seem to survive it really well. I have a great urge to put in some Lysichiton American (the yellow skunk cabbage) which I think would do well, but I'm not sure how much light they need. They would do very well in your front garden if you like things a little vulgar.

I'm off now to read your blog - I just hope the house wasnt flooded.

14 Apr, 2010

Nope - thank goodness! I know that next door has been in the past, though.

I had a smallish Lysichiton on the bank - but it's covered in silt, and I can't locate it. Sob, sob. I was looking forward to seeing it again!
