So you have tortoises also! What species is this? I have to work on my tortoise enclosures this weekend. They are a mess. I've put most of the big guys out for the summer but the smaller pens have to be replanted (can't plant much with big torts).

Hi Lauram, my three tortoises are all mediterranean spur thighed tortoises and yes, Dorjac, they frequently eat things I would rather they left alone, but it's just one of those things :)

I figured they were some sort of Mediterranean tortoise. Mine will occasionally eat something they shouldn't - like pokeweed - but I think most of the time that stuff just tastes bad to them and they stop. I've heard that most cases of tortoise poisoning occur when there's absolutely no other food available to them.
Speaking of poisonous plants, I just remembered there's a daffodil growing in my redfoot tortoise enclosure. I need to pull that up!
