It must be male - it ramps all over the place. You would certainly need a large trellis as this is only one small part of this plant, it covers about four metres of fence and climbs right up into my neighbour's hideous leydandii! Actually I think it must be a male as it doesn't form cones - so no good for beer.

One of my wife's favourite plants but I think our's is female as it's bit viscious and clingy :-))))
