I found the name but haven;t got it on hand, I love the contrast of the bloom to the leaves on this. Really something.

I did buy it from an out of bloom bargain shelf because of the foliage. I think it looks especially fuzzy because of the frosted edges. I've discovered the variety name as Arctic. Maybe that is why it is so happy up here......lol. Soon to be two.

That's incredible! You truly are the king of the African Violets!
I see African Violets for sale all the time here -- haven't grown them in more than 20 years though. I may try some as a ground cover in my new shade structure in the front of my house...as they need complete shade outside here.

My mini variety, smaller leaves, spreads into a mound more readily than the larger types. They don't mind drier soil so they should do well. I'd recommend giving each a few inch mound of soil to keep the plant dry and the roots wet when watering. Good luck, I'd love to see them in a bed situation!

I like the large varieties...I'll try some when I get my shade structure's soil worked in...hopefully it will like the water here! If the African Violet don't work out...I'll plant Streptocarpus hybrids which are related to African Violets. They grow very well outside in all Coastal California.

Thanks Linda. It is quick becoming a treasure. Less blooms than others, but I don't mind with this coloring. :-)
