Vasline round top of pots, so they can't get to them as they slide on it.

A clever tip and eco friendly too so much better than pellets .

Thats true, picked a load of snails of garden today and through them in green bin so they go to tip, knowing my luck they'l crawl out and come back on garden.

I use Vaseline too,Clarice.Think thats why the salads are ok,as I put it on the feet and bottom bars of the staging.I haven't seen many this year so far, more snails ,but not as many as usual, but no doubt, things will change when it rains.!!
Then it will be torch and shovel at the ready.....Hope yours don't have Sat nav.Lol.

I wish I could keep Hostas Clarice but whatever I do they get muched by slugs. Mind you, I`ve never heard of using vaseline though, I`ll bear that in mind. :o)

It works for me..

Thanks for the tip about vaseline Carol. You could put it around the inside top of your bin then they can't crawl back out and then they will have a single ticket to the tip...lol!

Never thought of that, mind you Richard my wheelie bins dont live in my garden, i put them in the side ally next to my back gate, and the people who live opposite me in the ally do the same, so no problems with bins in garden thank goodness as we have three bins.

We have four bins Carol-one for general, one for glass, one for paper and one for tins and plastic bottles. Some people also have a fifth bin with a brown lid for garden waste but I compost all my garden and kitchen waste so I don't need No. 5! :-)

We have 3 and a blue bag for newspapers.

We had a big split in one of our bins-probably it happend when it bangs on the lorry! so we rang the council and they gave us another one:-)

They do get banged a lot when emptying

yes Carol the bins get knocked a few times on the side of the lorry when it is lifted up if the contents don't come out easlily.
