Oxalis deppei

Oxalis deppei

Some may remember me posting a pic of the label of a pack of 20 bulbs I found in a £1 store last month. Thought that they might be good in our garden, due to the tenuous deppei link to Johnny Depp (aka Capt Jack Sparrow). Didn't really expect too much from these bulbs, being a late buy and at the price, but they are actually coming on well!!!

Also known as Oxalis "Iron Cross".

For Goodness' Sake, Motinot - not another Depp swooner on GOY? There seems to be a few of the ladies here with like minds! Have you seen him in "Finding Neverland"? Based on truth, but missing a lot of it, tells the story behind JM Barrie's creation of Peter Pan. We especially like the part where the stage production is brought from a theatre to a garden, as the inspiration for Barrie's play came from gardens and parks he knew. I also get to see Kate Winslet (my turn to "swoon?"), and the wonderful Julie Christie (more my "type") - Lol!

Amazed that they showed up at all, Amy, at the price! Wondering about the flowering, now? :-))

Good for the pattern alone, though, 6d. :-))

LoL...! just watched Finding Neverland a couple of months back! swooner indeed! I'm old enough to be his mother! I should mention, though, that he is an excellent character actor, I'm sure you'll agree. Wow! you really did get a bargain at a $ store... over here the dollar stores are now the Buck twenty five stores! inflation hits.... Do you suppose the oxalis grow better after a season or so of TLC? Good luck..I hope they come along well...I just love it when bargains are bargains.

Hi Lori and Doris!

Mine were a real bargain, as the first two flowers are out now! Didn't really expect them to do much at the price, but am pleased, of course. Will post a pic when a few more appear.
