Have they even got a waterproof roof on their home ? Lovely birds, 'ours haven't come back this year', possibly due to our cat lurking around.

Yes,Shirley..very "des res".Lol. None of us have a cat round here, just one up
the road, who keeps lurking, but I only have to open the front door, and he runs off.
He hasn't sussed out that his bell gives him away.he stands on the wall above the box too, looking down, but think he finds the long drop, and all the Ivy around it,is a bit daunting...or maybe he has Vertigo.Lol Hope he doesn't get braver, when the little ones appear...that would be sad....

Wonderful picture, well done Russell! Sandra I have a pair nesting too,but the nest box is hidden on the fence behind the Arbour so very difficult to get a picture!

I was looking at the bird box this morning, while making breakfast, and saw a
different shape by the hole.I thought it was a baby appearing,so got Binoculars out to have a closer look..and to my horror, saw it was a big black slug, which had crawled up the Ivy...yuk.Probably looked bigger than it was,but the parents were still flying in and out.I was just going to get a long cane,to knock it off..still in dressing gown, hair not combed, looked like Wurzel Gummidge...and wondered if neighbours would see me.!!.As I thought about it,amazingly, one of the parents, pecked at it,till it dropped on the ground.I couldn't believe it,but so glad it didn't go in the nest.I wonder if it would feed it to the chicks?.Anyway,my sorry state of dress, was not seen by anyone,so that was another plus,..and all ended well..:o)) Got showered immediately,in case of another calamity.....
