i would burn it eileen if i were your sister, ive seen some huge stripy wasps lately, not the norm!
8 Jun, 2010
she also said she had seen 2 huge ones, double the normal length of a wasp, not sure if maybe she had seen hornets and not wasps

I was on the 'phone yesterday when one flew right in here and I haven't seen it since I don't know if it's hiding somewhere or if it went back out ! .... let us know what happens Eileen , the nest looks quite big they've been working on that for some time ............

Had 3 nests in my garden and left them alone flew in and out and they dont return to old nests so if can cope with them they are not necessarily designed to sting you .That said I didnt sit below them drinking coke ..Ps if well away from house leave them to it blocking up hole sure to get them angry

hope that wasp flew straight back out Amy lol

thanks BB, ill pass that onto my sister

I'm allergic. One day last summer I decided to pull down some kudzu and must have disturbed a nest. I was stung perhaps 10 times, became very sick and eventually went into shock. I can't work outside without carrying benadryl and a cell phone - the doctor said next time it happens it will likely be worse.

omg Lauram thats awful

...BUT...aren't they an amazing construction?
13 Jun, 2010
If they aren't bothering you I would leave them as wasps do rid the garden of greenfly and caterpillars They feed their young with them. Last year we didn't have to spray the veggie plot as the wasps cleared it of pests and they didn't bother us.
13 Jun, 2010
they are are amazing, thats why i just had to try get a photo
13 Jun, 2010
if it were me id leave it alone, its no where near her house but emmm you dont know my sister lol.
she things veg is something that grows in a supermarket and that wasps have no place in her garden lol
13 Jun, 2010
I agree with all those who would leave them alone, they are wonderful creatures who do a lot more good than harm.

Aye Toto my poor mother hated them and I grew up in a garden surrounded by jam jars with greaseproof paper slits a dollop of jam and half filled with water ..every year she would say I dont think I ve seen so many wasps.
It taught me to leave well alone I can tell you ..
14 Jun, 2010
They hoover up the garden and clean it all and we dont even notice, left alone they will do their job then buzz off somewhere else next year, obviously if annoyed they will attack !!
14 Jun, 2010

14 Jun, 2010
