Grandmage, I LOVE this iris, it's exactly what I would like. Is it a bearded iris? I don't suppose you happen to know what it's name is, do you?

No Gatt. its not a bearded one it is more like the ones you get for a pond, I had loads and dug them out in the big tidy up last year and thought I would take a clump and re-site them, but all the garden rubbish was cleared up and these went with it!!! :~(

Oh what a shame, Grandmage! I just adore that incredible intensity of blue. I'd buy myself some of these, but if they need the sort of moist soil you'd get in the vicinity of a pond, then I'm afraid it's a non starter in this baked garden! I shall have to think again.

Gatt. my garden is very dry and they are brill, i gave a few clumps to our church garden so gonna pinch one back in the spring!!!

Oh, Goodness, GM, if that's the case, then I might try some. We had something very similar in our (dampish) Cheshire garden some years back, and I wasn't really a gardener then, so I never investigated to see whether there were bulbs or rhizomes under the surface, but they grew in ever-expanding clumps. I should have tried lifting, dividing and re-juvenating them, but one year they just failed to grow again, and I had lost the lot. Are these Iris sibirica?
