I tried to grow this plant in semi-shade, and it died; in sun, it seems much happier.

Oh dear, Daylily, I hope it doesn't do the same to me! I know it isn't a vigorous one like others in the 'family'....

Hopefully not, mine was on the west side but was also in shade, bought quite a few years ago because it caught my eye, youre climate probably a bit warmer than ours

Yes, Daylily - I think it probably is. My first attempt was in semi - shade, too - so it obviously prefers the sun.
Pp - it's smaller than a lupin, more compact, really. I 'do' hope it stays happy!

Must look out for this and the white one, I do have the Yellow one but it does spread everywhere, going to dig it up in the autumn and plant it in pots to contain it!

Yes, it does - but I don't find it too difficult to control - I just dig up some each spring. I potted up three pieces this year - and sold them on my plant stall!!!! I did add a warning that they spread, to be fair to the buyers. :-))
