The best time of year to take cuttings is Autum so I ve just read, but if they are side shoots, I take any time. make sure when you take cuttings you have two nodes, I just cut the bottom straight and top. Cut just below a node with clean and sharp secitures or knife.

I usually take them in the autumn 6p I do it like you say , I usually put them straight in a little trench in the veg. garden , I don't have to keep worrying about watering them like that ... I was worried that I was doing it at the wrong time as you were doing it now ! I will look to see if I have some side shoots .. :o)

Well Amy I have just planted seeds for leeks lol in my grow bed it says sow in october, I ve done it now, no harm in trying out they can either go up or down, lol.

I"m running short of superlatives here! They say a rose is a rose is a rose...but what a ROSE~~ beautiful.

No harm in trying 6p , we grow lots of leeks usually putting the seed in in feb/ march ...
