my god thats a long link....seems over here its known as a false caster oil plant....but the ricinus is very similar....i love the red one..but have been put off it because of the poisonous seeds....

but its sooo toxic...i stopped growing it...

yes that would put me off having anything like that sandra, with pets and grankids ;o(

We grow both of them, the red is gorgeous and it is in the jungle, we do have to keep the little one away from it, because it is very toxic but then most plants are if they are eaten, so yours is Fatsia Japonica, we have had to prune ours every year as it gets very large, decided to take a cutting and start one in the jungle.

thanx dotty im going to keep this to the size i have it now, i dont like them to big when you havent the space, can take over, i like it as it is now ;o))

mine needs a big chop San..taking over the path now...took some cuttings last year..lost a few but others are growing nicely.

are cuttings easy sandra

i pot in about ten growing tips and i think six are still growing....so not that hard San.

Mmmmm.....might be an idea for mine when we eventually get the front wall built. Then I can pop mine in the ground out front maybe!

yes good idea Dan, they can grow pretty big to, can clip them to keep in hand though ;o)
