Bobolink

I have never seen this bird before now, but I think it is a Bobolink that flies from Brazil an Argentina to this area every Spring. Many had been killed and sold to be eaten as butterbirds years ago in South Carolina, but now are protected by laws.

Nice picture Talljim! How lucky you are to have gotten one at your feeders! They summer up here, but I have yet to have one visit.This one is a lovely male - the females, like most blackbirds, are a bit more drab, with striped crown, brownish streaked back & buffy breast.
