Rosemary/lavender beetle (chrysolina americana)

I have found one of these on my lavender today. I understand Paulthegardener was concerned for his lavender in 2009. It is the 4th most disliked pest after snails/slugs, vine weevil and lily beetle reported to the RHS

I agree with Michaella, it does look beautiful, such a metallic sheen.

Goes well with the Lavender but sadly , not good news to see it here in Essex. It is slowly spreading up country and so far no answer for controlling it. On Rosemary crops, which it really likes, usual stuff cannot be used, as crop used for culinary purposes.

I have just composted my whole rosemary bush because it was crawling with these beetles, scary ! My though arent they beautiful!
