Moving plants for colour

I've put some pansies from a front tub in there now as well just to accentuate the bronze colour. And I'm now swithering about moving the orange lillies in the front tub to fill a slight gap that I can just about see in there too... lol!!! What do you think???

Can you see the rhubarb coming through? It's there for some larger leaves for now as I can't cut any till next year... hope it keeps growing! I get my supplies from my mum at the moment!

I see the rhubarb too but I hadn't noticed it before! The orange lilies would look good in the border but they look brilliant in the tub too :)

Thanks Valerie, I was really very lucky as the 92year old who had this garden before me was a plant-a-holic, lol... her husband said she should just dig a pit in the garden and put all his money in it! When I moved in I felt like I was being inundated with catalogues from every nursery in business! And the neighbours say I am carrying on her tradition! I have a photo somewhere of the garden when I moved in so I'll see if I can find it and post it on again...
I've been here for 5 years but didn't really start doing anything till about 3 years ago - took lots of photos and read up about what she had already, then looked at what the neighbours were growing and started adding in here and there - because it's was a "Cottagey Garden" style I realised quite quickly that it was very bare in winter so I started by adding in a few evergreens and late winter / early spring flowering plants for interest (Christmas Box, Cornus "Midwinter Fire", Juniper, Gaultheria, Evergreen Azalleas, Christmas / Lenten Roses etc... lots of bulbs as she didn't seem to have any except in one small area at the front of the house and various heathers which I quickly moved out again and into the gravel area before they died from wet root rot!) Some of her shrubs and trees were really quite old - at least since the early 60s and I have nursed them along and taken cuttings where possible to replace them but last winter put an end to her "Snowball" tree - Viburnum opulus (really lovely in Spring with Flowers just like snowballs - I tried to proagate it before it died but don't think they took) and 4 or 5 of her roses so I have had to reshape a few areas this year.
The gravel area at the side of the house was just that - all gravel - when I moved in and I was so fed up with seeing the weeds grow in it that I decided to try some plants as an experiment and as they took I added to it - so that area is all my doing I'm afraid!
She had all gravel at the front as well and the "soup bowl" had a phormium growing in it - very nice and very minamilist, and I managed to kill it and having replaced twice finally gave up and went for the lavendar effect with a Buddleia (Black Knight) in the centre - it died this winter so I have put a tub with Hydrangea "Annabel" in for the moment as Annabel survived the winter!
However when I was looking at a tub this morning I realised that I'd taken a cutting from the Buddleia last year and it has survived and is about to flower. Plants are amazing aren't they?
I still haven't got to grips with the front garden - a work in progress, I don't really like the gravel but I don't like all the different tubs there either. I can't face turning it all up to put to grass, though it would probably be more inviting, however that would also mean "weekly" lawn mowing so I keep on looking for ideas that I think might work....
