Close-up. (Lychnis coronaria 'Gardeners' World')

This is the beautiful double flower of the Lychnis coronaria 'Gardeners' World'. Unfortunately, it's sterile.

Looks just like a pink doesn't it. Lovely! Are you open gardening again this month B?

10 Jul, 2010

No, except that some villlage friends were away, and want to come, and also a family is coming next week - Ian, Carol and Holly! :-)))))

I expect you have loads of 'private viewings' !! I had one a couple of weekends ago...my next door neighbour's dad asked to come in and take a look! I was very honoured and really flattered! He said i should be on the telly!! Nice man!

Have you thought about opening your garden? I know there's a similar system like the 'Yellow Book'.

10 Jul, 2010

Yes, we have our own yellow book B. My garden is too small for opening. It would take all of five minutes to see it!

10 Jul, 2010

A group, then? It's such a lovely garden - shame not to!

10 Jul, 2010

Thank you very much. Perhaps in a few years when it has matured....

10 Jul, 2010

Hmmm...bad excuse. It looks so lovely in your photos! :-))))

10 Jul, 2010

You are very kind!

10 Jul, 2010

Just truthful, Karen. I'd love a trip round it....:-)))

10 Jul, 2010

Your welcome, any time! Shame you didn't think of it sooner, could have nipped up here from Bristol and had an overnight stay....mind you.....bloomin awful weather for looking at any garden! ;))

10 Jul, 2010

Might even do that one day....you'd get a knock at the door and a shock! LOL.

10 Jul, 2010

Next time there's an overnighter at your neighbours'! How was it? btw, i put on two pics so you can compare the sieboldii with the viennetta. The Viennetta has a larger central part.

12 Jul, 2010

Awful in the afternoon - due to children on two bouncy castles!!! I couldn't stay outside. It was slightly better over night, thanks. They didn't go home until late on Sunday!

I'll go and take a look at the two clems.

12 Jul, 2010

Welcome to my world!! :))

12 Jul, 2010

Hmmmm...no thanks....:-(((((

I can't see the clems, Karen???????

12 Jul, 2010

Yes, it was a few downloads ago now B, so you may have to go to second page of photos....but viennetta basically has a larger central area wit more green in the centre. Other than that, they are pretty much the same. Same growth habit and same size of flower, same creamy white sepals.

12 Jul, 2010

Is it more vigorous than f. sieboldii?

12 Jul, 2010

Nope, I would say not. Maybe not quite so weak, mine has established itself a little more readily than my sieboldii, but I don't think there's any difference in the growing vigour.

12 Jul, 2010

I'm having problems this year...I'm trying to keep the poor plants watered, but it's a losing battle. :-((((

12 Jul, 2010

Yes, you've had it quite bad there, I've been noticing on the weather forecast. We have had some rain recently thank goodness, but it's been so windy and that dries everything out really fast as you know, so not a great deal of improvement really. At least the grass is still green though, but I'm still out most days watering. When so much is newly planted you have to keep them moist until they get properly established as you know......I don't mind watering as it gives me a chance to get close to the plants!

12 Jul, 2010

I've been lugging umpteen cans around every evening, and the hose has been on every day - but STILL the plants look sad! It's drizzly today, but heavier rain is forecast for later and tomorrow. We do need it! Grass? dry straw. :-((

13 Jul, 2010

Hope it lasts for at least the day then B!

13 Jul, 2010

Guess what - it fizzled out, and we've had NONE even though Louise had some just up the coast from here. Hose again tomorrow, plus cans, if it doesn't oblige over night. SIGH!!

13 Jul, 2010

....:((....it's like autumn here again today.....blowing a gale and raining, but not really proper rain, not enough to water the ground properly, but enough to make it miserable.

14 Jul, 2010

I'm just back from our walk, and it drizzled a bit...now it's still drizzling. Not NEARLY heavy enough to do more than wet the leaves!

As you say - enough to make it miserable out there, though. I still haven't managed to plant 'Blue Blood'! I have to remove some a.p.gs, so it's not a quick or easy task. The soil will need lots of compost after they've come out!

14 Jul, 2010

I want to get out there and lift some of that Lamium but no chance in this weather. It's either covered with bees or raining! Still, I'm sure it will get done...some day! i did manage to split some Siberian Iris yesterday and split my geranium brookside and replant that.....so I'm not totally behind, but there is so much to do just now and I really would like to get on with it.......I'll just never get used to how dramatically the weather changes here from one day to the next. Yesterday, midsummer, today - could be November!

14 Jul, 2010

Heehee - I've made it rain! I went out and put the hose on - I did a bit of dead-heading - and then the rain started! It's gentle, and how long it'll go on for is in doubt - so I'll leave the hose on as well...Insurance! ;-)))

14 Jul, 2010

It's like a storm here now. More rain and more wind!! Usual Open Golf weather....poor things! Glad I'm not a golfing fan!

14 Jul, 2010

My ploy didn't work - it stopped raining....but at least the hose is helping some of the garden to survive!

If they want to play /watch golf, K, nothing will stop them, not even a hurricane! Don't feel sorry for them - it's their choice!

14 Jul, 2010

lol....you're right Barbara...even my OH tried to go to the driving range today...still better that than sitting at home eating crisps and sports mixture!!

14 Jul, 2010

LOL. Not for me, thanks!
