This plant is from america where Flannel is popular for its smooth and soft texture do you think this is the reason for the name?

I have this too, it's a really good large shrub/small tree to have, it's flowers are this bright sunshine-yellow colour and it flowers from late spring to autumn.
One thing though, it's a very 'hairy' plant that 'gets' on your skin and clothes and feels like fibreglass loft insulation does when it irritates ..... you 'have' to change after working amongst its branches.
Worth the discomfort though :-)))))))))))))))))))))))
I didn't know about that odd name though :-(((
I really don't like the common names, they're too wierd :-/

Yes i do agree with you louise...lovely Shrub, but if you are going to touch it ,
`Be warned... i did this when deadheading, so painful, the stinging lasted
a few days..never touch this now, unless with thick leather gloves..
Yes, i found this article about this flower`s common name in a Magazine,
cannot remember which 1 though...thanking you, for your comment, Louise..
