Yes you can, I think you can also use rusty nails...it's the ferris oxide that blues them, so if you have soil that is rich in minerals they tend to be bluer....something like that!

Lovely colours. I like hydrangeas and I think they went out of fashion for a few years but everybody seems to be promoting them again.I bought a Hydrangea Arborescens 'Annabelle' today. I am looking forward to seeing the large white drum stick flowers it is supposed to have. None visible yet. My H. Paniculata Pinky Winky has some promising looking flower heads and seems to like where I planted it.

Mine was like this last year but because of lack of rain or no rain should I say it is very pink this year !!
