I've heard they can grow in Phoenix. Doesn't the state capital grounds in Phoenix have a very large Royal Palm?
Royal Palms have an extremely high heat tolerance...but they are not hardy to cold though. I've seen Royal Palm growing in Palm Springs, CA...which has the same climate (subtropical desert) as Phoenix, AZ.
