I did not know, you could get a Perennial Sweet Pea Janey? I thought they
were all Annuals? These remind me of when i was a young, we used to call them `Bunny Rabbits..LOL I do love the scent of this flower...

It grows a bit different to the annual sweetpea, and has no scent, but is lovely for the colour........

Amy sent me some seeds too, hope they bloom as well as yours Janey they are lovely!

Checked mine this aft and they've been battered by the wind.....my ordinary sweet peas didn't come to much this year....:o(

Mine arent 'nearly' as good as usual - the stems are soooo short now, and some plants have given up. i'm finding that the flowers aren't lasting, either - they're going to seed rapidly.

Mine have been just the same...a few single flowers on short stems that have lasted just a day or two, even though I've fed and watered them well...:o(
This seems to have happened a lot in my garden this year Barbara, the cold late spring and then high temps, have given my plants a short flowering time. Going to treat my garden to some old fashioned frilly sweet peas next year...:o)

Ah! I can smell them.....so sweet.

Does anyone know how many sets of leaves they should have when they're about 8" tall? Mine are about that height and I've pinched them off, but most of them have only 3 sets of leaves...please help!

I would think that's about right Rah, I've had a look at mine and they are very different in their growth from the annual sweet pea. The one in this photo is about 8ft tall and of course dies back in winter. It has a flat stem with pairs of two round leaves about every 2.50 inches. Mine begins to produce flower stems at about 3ft, so yours need to grow yet. I wouldn't have thought yours will flower this year with it being the second half of summer now.

Thank you, Janey :) Their growth seems to have stalled a bit since I pinched them off, but I've noticed that the leaves on some of them seem to be getting bigger. Fingers crossed that everything goes well :)
