Fishtail Palms have thousands of seeds per flower spike. Usually you see hundred of seedlings under large fruiting trees. Photo taken at Quail B. G. on August 3, 2010.

Each tree has from 5 to 8 spikes like this...containing many thousands of seeds. It depend on how tall the tree is...and their potential height is 100 feet/ 32 meters tall. Although in Coastal California they tend to only top out at 60 - 70 feet.

Caryota urens is one of the fastest growing palms in the World. They can grow to 30 feet/ 10 meters within 5 or 6 years...then they slow down.
