looks really colourful and pretty~ do you really manage to grow all your own vegetables for all the year round?
My father used to t from potatoes which would run out and I still remember him going out and getting everything fresh for dinner~

Arlene, yes, we grow veg. and fruit for the year. We have a rootcellar in which potatoes, carrots and apples are stored. We also, some years dig a hole in the garden and frame the inside from the mice, and store carrots there. They do best by far this way. Beets go in for a while, as do turnips. Potatoes and apples do the best and the former, keep us fed until the new potatoes are ready. We also start cooking some up for the laying hens. We have about fifty fruit trees, I bottle some and freeze. I dry herbs, some garlic and onion. The latter two I then grind for powder as the shop stuff has something in it which disagrees with me. Yesterday I froze apricots (an iffy fruit here) normally I either bottle or jam them. Something had been at them so I had to cut a lot out. Bad year for pests.
Theoldgunner - I took a few years for it to self-seed and spread out, and seed down in cracks in the wall. It is not a dry-wall but cracks appear and I don't cut back the plants as one is advised, hence the debris collects and probably makes a lovely spot for another one to grow. I just planted and make sure no weeds creep in, other than that it has taken care of itself. Rarely gets water as the six sprinklers in the veg. garden don't quite reach the wall. I don't fertilize it either.
