We were away this weekend in a place called Leavenworth, WA. It is on the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Very hot and dry in the summer. It was lovely and the wildflowers were in full bloom.

I did not know at the time but I bought a book and it says they are Arrowleaf Balsamroot from the Sunflower (Asteraceae family). They had lovely velvety leaves. Was tempted to dig some up and bring them home.

That would be nice, we were staying at a wonderful resort. But I doubt my husband's firm would pay for us the second time round.
