Old fencing

Oh dear Whistonlass, you have quite a bit of clearing to do there haven't you, but its surprising how quickly you seem to get through it...........just look on the bright side and imagine what it will look like when its all cleared and planted out.....:o)))

I was just looking at Four seasons gardens, which are just amazing. They have taken over a neglected garden of an elderly neighbour, who couldn't cope anymore. They have before and after pictures. They use it to overwinter tender plants and begonia corms. Lots of hints on overwintering plants to be seen in the pictures. On a dull dreary day I cheer myself by looking at their fantastic gardens......have a look if you havn't looked so far.

Thank you for the thumbs up, Dorjac. I've spent a pleasant time viewing the Four seasons blog. It sure is spectacular and they both are very accomplished gardeners.

My little patch would be no challenge for them!

The photo of our dilapidated fencing which you posted under is hopefully going to be history. We are awaiting a call back from the fencing people who did a job of fencing during the summer for us and our adjoining neighbour. We'll get a quote and see where we go from there....fingers crossed!

It will be lovely to get rid if that corrugated stuff Whistonlass.

We're still waiting for the quote from the fencing firm (they weren't too pleased to see the asbestos sheets....all 6 of them). I will be so glad to get the fence renewed....it is a real eyesore.

They also said they could move all the paving slabs which are dotted about our garden in batches and relocate them for a patio next to the back of the house. I will see how the fencing goes and go from there.

It is a nuisance when asbestos of any type is on a property, even the relatively harmless fencing and roofing sheets we used with gay abandon years ago . Contractors make such a meal of it. When we moved here we advertised to have a garage removed for free. Prefab concrete with asbestos roof. The takers came and dismantled it and carted it off. No fuss no hysterical H&S. Its that stuff that goes round piping that is deadly.

Loads of work to do there, how is it going?

It's coming along, DD....the fencing pictured above has all been removed and new timber fencing installed (the photos are in one of my blogs). We've had the patio slabs put down as well.

We are speaking with a gardener in the morning and I will show him my rough plan for a gravel garden with borders. I am so looking forward to getting to the planting stage...hubby is fearful of our depleting bank balance...lol Once the gravel is down it will be much more manageable for us :)

OHs do worry so dont they lol

I'll be doing an update blog later in the week....plans are revised yet again! But on the bright side we have found a gem of a gardener who will assist in getting things underway if his quote is affordable for us....just a warning that turf is again in the picture!
