The silvery vine bit used to house a large cut glass blue bowl. The boss threw it away! So I took it to bits turned it upside down. Lined it with slate pebbles and stick in on a thick tile!! Have just taken apart an alabaster lamp and am going to make a few mosaic sculptures out of the 5 separate pieces. Am wondering though if alabaster is frost proof?

Could you put a small piece in the freezer and see if it cracks, or not ??
12 Sep, 2010
Now there's an idea Grandmage. I might google it as The bigger the piece I think the more easily it would crack. I would prefer to make it an outside piece but don't want to have to winter it inside!

Hubbie says he thinks it is quite a 'soft' material, unlike marble or granite!!!!
12 Sep, 2010
Just googled it. Sadly it is too soft, def would crack in the frost. What a pity.

Well just make a piece for indoors then !!! Still would be beautiful.
