Wow this is lovely, seen bulbs/corms? of these for sale but never seen one in the flesh, stunning, did you buy it as a plant or grow it yourself Meanie, heard they're pretty hard to get going from corms?

Thank you Simbad - I got it as corms. One pot in the sun and one in the shade - it was the one in the shade that has bloomed. I'm chuffed, as when they arrived I did a bit of research and read about all the difficulties others had experienced. Kept them moist in my own mix (potting compost, sphag moss, perlite and vermiculite in equal measures). Also stood the pots on pebbles in a plant saucer with plenty of water in to raise the humidity around them.

Clever you I'd be chuffed too, worth having a go then, going on my favourites so I can look back at your instructions, and so I can drool over it too,lol :-)

Certainly worth the effort!

In the ground, they have been fine previous years but this year....... nowt !

Mine are in pots, so I'll withdraw water gradually from now on, and then stick them in the fridge at Christmas for a few weeks.
