My red poppy.

My red poppy.

This is one of the cast iron red poppy bird seed feeders i bought today.
They're about 4' tall (12" of that is a prong in the ground), have an open bloom of about 6 or 7" across which takes the bird seed.

That's a lovely idea Louise and adds colour to the garden all year too!

These make a lovely addition to the garden and serve a purpose as well.

Thanks everyone, i'm very pleased with them :-)
Val, yes i did, they had a butterfly design too - its open wings made the dish area to put the feed in but their colours were very drab and not very attractive at all.

Nice idea, I have one without colouring, problem is that the food gets soggy if it stays too long in the rain, but that doent happen very often of course

Rm, i'm discovering that too :-(
I thought they'd have a fine mesh across the bottom but it doesn't and the food ends up sitting in the wetness - a bad design fault.

louise if you have a metal drill piece you can pop holes through with a fine piece ;o))

I love your poppy Suey. On the subject of drainage, I've drilled a seed tray with very fine holes and then put in a layer of gravel with the seed scattered on top. This seems to be keeping the seed fairly dry, or at least, not sitting in a puddle. Not decorative though!
