What a bargain I looked at some at a local garden centre this week, on the quick sale bench, and even reduced to half price they were £5.99 !!!!!

Both good prices, girls but Sbg's got the bargain of the century there !
Buy them 'now' at these prices, get them in the ground and their roots will start to settle, mulch them with a couple of inches before hard frosts are due and they'll sail through your colder winters.

would you put them in full sun or can they go in light partial shade? The info on the back doesnt give any details really. I have the bright orange 'Orange king' that is a thug even in deep shade.

That's a slightly different type to these, i read up on the different types but i'm afaraid i don't remember all the details but i 'do' remember that these aren't nearly as invasive as the Orange King type.

I've found they're happiest in full sun, the ones i've sited in partial shade aren't as floriferous as the others.

Did you know that deadheading these plants actually means deadstemming ?
Take them back to the ground, they'll produce tons more new stems, if you want to control the number of stems leave them intact.

That was a really good buy Sbg, they'll bring you a lot of colour and so good for cutting, these have been on my wish-list for years and still I forget! Gone on faves to remind me and to keep your Info Louise....:o)

Janey, they're much misunderstood and underrated yet they're so easy to grow (except in Spritzs garden!).
Plenty of sun, well drained soil and that's all they ask !
Mulch with a few inches in winter (unless you're in a mild area) and they're actually quite tough plants.
Great for outdoor show aswell as cutting :-)

Thanks Louise....they should suit my sunny border well...going to give them a try next year...:o)
