I bought one plant this time last year, reduced in a sale. Took cuttings, and this is one of this year's plants. Will be taking cuttings again, soon, for next year's bedding.

A real beauty...

I have never got a pic of the flowers, Dd, as they always turn out as a white blur. They are actually a pale pink, but I love them more for their "dark chocolate" foliage. :-))

The foliage is lovely David , my greenhouse is already filling up with cuttings and seedlings ,I hope we don't get a cold winter we are going to try not use the heat in it this year , I've been saving all our plastic bottles and making mini greenhouses to go over the pots .....

The cutting you sent me David have done well. I lost a couple of them but the couple that survived have done really well. I don't often take photos of individual plants so I'm not sure if I have a photo of this one. I find that cutting root very, very easily & have several for nest year.

I'm not sure if it is the same plant but our council planted some that looked very much like this one on a triangular roundabout where they have lots of circular flowerbeds this summer. They pulled the lot up only last week! It makes me almost cry to see how they pull up the summer bedding just when it has reached its best moment! I understand they need to get the winter/spring bedding in now but the summer bedding is in for such a short time.

David, do you have a photo processing programme on your computer? I'm thinking of something simple like Picasa, not Photoshop! I have Picasa & I often use it to lighten or darken my photos, as well as putting a title on them. Perhaps it might help you to avoid the "white blur" . Another thing is not to take the photos in sunlight or bright light. Take a photo when it's cloudy & you may avoid the blurriness.

The mini greenhouses sound like a good idea, Amy. Apparently, it is to be cold in November, warmer over Christmas, then cold again, but not as bad as last winter. I'll have to get going with cuttings very soon.

Oh, Balcony, the Council have been doing the same here, and I hate to see perfectly good plants being ripped out :-(
I do have Picasa, but have never used it except once to make a collage. have never spent time trying it out, so will do. many Thanks for the pointer. Glad that some of the cuttings have been productive. :-)

You're welcome & thanks again for the cuttings.

Do give Picasa a try, it's very basic but adequate for simple changes like lightening a dark photo or darkening an overexposed one. I now use it a lot to darken mine, to bring out details that are otherwise lost. It also seems to add more "depth" to the image, stopping it from looking so "flat".
