That is a gorgeous one Spritz. What is it called?

12 Oct, 2010

It's called 'Water Lily', Gilli. Good name, isn't it! :-))))

I love it Barbara it,s much prettier than my single flowers .......

12 Oct, 2010

Is it? It's the first one I've ever had, so I don't have the experience of single/double ones. I'll have to do some research before I order any for next year. :-)

just outstanding. I envy you.

12 Oct, 2010

Ooh that is fabulous...really different!

12 Oct, 2010

I agree - I'm delighted with it! Two blooms from the one bulb, too. :-)))

12 Oct, 2010

Are they choosy or easy to care for Spritz? Geoff wanted o buy some colchicum bulbs last year and I put him off. I won't be making that mistake again lol.

I have no idea, as it's my first one, Bell. I do know that it will produce leaves later, and also that I'll have to mark its position in the summer so I don't inadvertently dig it up - or worse - chop through it!

Absolutely breathtaking! What a fab colour ;o)

13 Oct, 2010

Yes, and I want more! :-)))))))

13 Oct, 2010

:-)))))))))

13 Oct, 2010

Thanks Spritz. I'll be on the lookout for this one.

15 Oct, 2010

Not till next year, now - but I'll be buying some more next August too, Gilli! ;-))

15 Oct, 2010

Yes - I see what you mean, Homebird! :-))))

A really gorgeous flower, Spritz! I like it so much I've added it to my favourites! :-))

Bellflower, Colchicums are perfectly hardy & very trouble free. Their leaves are not very pretty though! But if you disguise them a bit with a low growing plant during the summer you will be rewarded with these lovely flowers in the autumn.

Have you seen my blog with pictures of them I took when I visited the Cambridge Botanical Gardens a month ago?

18 Oct, 2010

No - but I will soon!

Thank you, Balcony. :-)))))

Lovely flower, but the quality of the photograph is so good you feel you could touch it...

18 Oct, 2010

What nice things you do say, Bamboo! ;-)))))

18 Oct, 2010

Beautiful picture Spritz...

18 Oct, 2010

Thank you. I do appreciate these kind comments! :-)

18 Oct, 2010

Thanks Balcony, I will check out your blog too.

18 Oct, 2010

Mouthwatering! Oooooooooooooooh for the plant. Ahhhhhhhhhh for the pic. Everyone else used all the words!

19 Oct, 2010

I'm flattered, Tetra, and so is the Colchicum! LOL.

19 Oct, 2010

I don't want to detract from the beauty of this flower, nor your photographic abilities Spritz, but what amazes me is the quality of the pics on here compared to how they used to be. Am I the only one who notices?

19 Oct, 2010

Is it because the photos are bigger and not cropped?

19 Oct, 2010

I don't believe it! Can you not see that the picture quality is greatly improved, never mind the size - clear as crystal and much more real looking... I keep wondering why others aren't commenting on it, maybe they just can't detect it, I don't know.

19 Oct, 2010

Checked out the blog Balcony, and found it very interestingm thank you.

19 Oct, 2010

Glad you found it interesting, Bellflower!

I agree with you Bamboo the pictures are not only bigger but clearer also.

19 Oct, 2010

Hmmm...yes, maybe, Bamboo. :-))) Can't be bad, can it?
