Datura.......will it wont it ?

I hope it beats the frosts Dotty, I have a similar situation going on with my yucca.

I hope you get to see it Dd and you with your Yucca Dawn , I grew some Cobaea Scandens from seed and set them all round the garden on anything that they could climb up , they have grown wildly running riot to the tops of everything I put them against but no flowers to speak of a couple tried to change colour and then flopped in the rain , it's so disappointing

Amy - mine (Cobea) has small flowers forming. That's soooo frustrating, as the frosts will get to them before they flower!

I wonder why that is Meanie when the foliage has grown so vigorously , just wasn't enough sun at the right time I suppose !

Thanks all. we had the same trouble with our Cobaea a few years ago, our daughter who had the same plants from us grew them up against a sunny sheltered wall and she had loads of flowers........

Much like the Datura hybrids, they do need plenty of sun and, most importantly, heat. And there wasn't too much of that about this summer!

I hope everyone's Cobaea Scandens flower next year. Sound lovely, I'm going to google them.

Sorry to hear about that! I've seen bugs eat parts of my Angel's Trumpets' flowers, they open anyway...they just don't look so good.

Delonix the cold got it last night, so disappointed, have some cuttings so will nurture them and get them in to flower earlier next year.

Why not try Datura Metel (the pure white form) next year. It grows at about twice the rate of the doubles.

Have taken some cuttings, so will have to wait until next year now as this is an annual.

I grew it one year, and bought a plant another time. I just find that they're slow growing.

You both would probably love to see them growing wild here in many areas of California. They are actually considered a weed here, growing to almost 6 feet/ 2 meters. :)
