Even when they've gone past their best these flowers are beautiful!

Thank you Louise!
Usually when a bloom goes over they wither and drop - these just fold up then drop. I took this yesterday afternoon and the bloom was on the floor this morning!

You really like this plant don't you Meanie. What is the size and shape of your Polygala Myrtifolia? Not bragging but mine has thipled in size this summer. Can you take a pic and post it? Curious.

It's just a small one at the moment as I only got it in September. Stands about eighteen inches high, but still in the original pot. I'll pot it on in spring and then we can have a race Alex!

Ok Meanie...looking forward to our race.

I must admit that I think that it's the most attractive spent flower that I've seen Yorkshire!

Meanie:
Interesting color! They grow wild here...and I've never seen one with this coloration! Great close up as usual!

Thanks Delonix - check them out next time. The unopened or spent blooms sit with the backs exposed, and this is the colour in the photo. Of course, it could just be a different variety!

Meanie:
It probably looks different because they all grow in full hot blasting sun here. The flowers are very, very dark colored...never this light color...which I like!

Strange the effect that sun has on pigmentation isn't it - my orchids show huge varieties in colour depending on sun/light levels.

Meanie:
Generally, as a rule...the brighter the sun the more pigmentation in the flower. However, if orchids receive too much sun they will bleach out. That's the reason most people grow them under lath, a porch, planter, under or in trees here.
