Carole i've been told it's a olive oil plant do you no if thats right, I had a really nice arfternoon at my friend Beryl , who is a artist.but i dont no if i've rembered that right,LOL, im sure she said she grew them from seed.

Thank you Dawn, yes it's lovely isn't it, I'm going to her next week hopefully, I'm sure said she grew them from seeds. If so i will ask if she has any spare for us,i will do my best.

oh your really kind Dawn , is that the Leycesteria formosa,as it looks stunning,please Dawn can you PM me your address. I forgot to tell you my seeds are coming up .I'm so excited as i've never grown from seed before ,i will take a pic for you, i think i've got to prick seeds out and put them in those little individual pots that i have bought, does that sound right please.take care :-)

Yes, that's the one Margaret, Leycesteria formosa.
I'm so pleased the seeds are growing, clever you, I look forward to seeing the picture. As soon as they are big enough to handle, gently prick them out and plant them into pots, handle by the leaf and not the root. Good luck.

It was a cutting off my Mum's Margaret. Originally it was a house plant that she decided to set in the garden, it must be 5 feet tall now, I'll ask her how she took the cutting.
