Frosty Morning

You had frost ? That's early :o( I hope you don't have any tonight .

Hello Hywel, yes and this is not the first, we had one a couple of weeks ago. Its was -3 in the car this morning and was even worse as we had rain last night. :-(

Oh dear. That's too bad :o( I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Me too Hywel, we dont want a repeat of last Winter. Luckily I got bubble wrap in the greenhouse just in time. How is your gardening going? You have such lovely plants and that manure certainly did them good.

Brrrr! It has been chilly here but no frost here. Clear skies here tonight though so maybe..... :)

I'm geting the fuchsias cacti and pelargoniums in now Dawn. I'm leaving the garden until spring. Most things came through last winter so they'll hopefully be all right this year aswell.

Cant believe it Dawn ,thats early ,hope you get the flowers in before they get damaged ,its been a bit colder in the mornings here in Essex.But yes I'm trying to get things bedded down for winter, still got lots of flowers on my begonias and fuchsias,

This pic has answered my question......your garden looks beautiful still, do I see an Arundo Donax variegata? I have bought some inside and left some in the garden as an experiment, it is cold here and there is frost on the car.

We have frost this morning :(( Shall go out to have a look round the garden, as soon as I can.

There was frost on the cars here at 6ish but now it's disappearing :-)))))
It's still only 5.5 degrees though, argh :-(

Hi Dotty and thank you. That's a Miscanthus actually sent by my good friend Amy. I do have Arundo Donax though elsewhere in the garden. It pulled through last Winter and we had temperatures as low as -11 so yours should be fine.
Oh Louise, I never thought you had frosts, ever, lol. Must have been a shock for you to get one this early.

We had one -2 last night , like you all we have been dashing round protecting plants ,either bringing some inside ,or in the greenhouse ,it's not fair , it should at least give us fair warning ...

I agree Amy. Have you ever wrapped everything up as the weather forecast predicts frost and then we dont get one, tut and in reverse, not expecting one and everything gets flattened.

Hi Bornagain/BB. We had a cracker of a frost after this one, a couple of days ago, -3, now that one has taken its toll. My fuschia in the greenhouse, with bubble wrap over has been frosted.

My dahlias, which I have grown for the first time, have been deaded, and my cannas, also first time don't look too good now. I must look at various blogs and questions, as I can't remember what to do with them now lol:-)

Sickening Bornagain, isnt it. The frost does all this damage and then it goes mild again, grrrrr. Sorry, I can't help you with your cannas and dahlias but when my plants get battered I tend to leave them for months and hope they shoot and amazingly they usually do.

That's my way too Dawnsa, but can't do that with cannas I think. May leave the dahlias, see what happens:-)
