You should visit Greece at some point, our beaches are gorgeous. I want to go visit the islands on the south of Greece.

I'd love to visit Greece! I have good friend visiting there right now. I'm so envious! lol! :>)

What part of Greece are they visiting? One of my brother in laws and family just moved to Germany. I'm thinking about going to see them for christmas.

Alexandramou:
My friends are visiting Athens, Mykonos, Hydra, and Santorini.
Going to Germany for Christmas will really feel like Christmas with snow and all. Christmas a lot of times here in San Diego doesn't feel Christmasy! It's usually too warm. :>)

Yes it will feel like chirstmas in Germany (if we go). It hasn't snowed on corfu in the 17 years that I've lived here. Usually we go in search of snow for a winter break with the kids.
I wonder how your friends are going to like Greece at this time of the year. We've had two storms and a really crazy one of speeds of 100mps winds in the sea yesterday... We had no electric for almost 24hours. The storm is still here, all the plants are down, I see from the window some soil gone from my peonies that I planted the day before the storm (wish I would have known how bad this storm would be) As soon as it calms down a little I'm out with my gloves.

We can drive up to our local mountains (6,000 ft/ 1829m high) to see snow...it snows at least 4 times a year there. However, the snow usually only last a day or two. It's only an hour or so drive.
My friends came back this past Sunday fro Greece...they were there for 2 weeks.

It seems you've had some exciting and wild weather there. I've read so many part of the world have had some really unusual weather this year. It's been no exception here in Southern California. Last week we had one of the worst November heat waves in Southern California. Most of last week the temps were between 90F/ 32C and 102F/ 39C. It's not too unusual to get heat waves in November...just not this hot. Downtown San Diego had the hottest temp. ever recorded in Nov. at 100F/38C.

Delonix1
wow, you guys are having another summer. lol ;o)
Did you go swimming?
It is crazy weather but at least it's warm, still in the 20's...Crete is going up to 29C today, we are only going up to 23C but it's is extremely windy!

Alexandramou:
It was feeling a lot like the summer we didn't have this year. :>)
Actually, I did go swimming...in a pool, not the ocean.
10 Nov, 2010
Ah pool, yuk
The kids make me go every so often, and I complain the whole time.
Was your summer not very hot this year? Ours was hot but not that many heat waves!!!

Alexandramou:
You don't like the pool? lol! :>)
Most of California (with the exception of the deserts), had a cooler than normal summer. In inland San Diego (where I live), the average summer high was only 83F/28C. ...it's typically between 88F/31C - 92F/34C. and many times hotter with heat waves.

No, no pools for me...I'm always complaining that we are swimming in chlorine water....yuk yuk and it smells too. Mind you the beach is only 10 steps from the pool the kids like.

Alexandramou:
That's funny! I don't swim in the ocean because I want to see the bottom...like in a pool. lol! :>)
11 Nov, 2010
Yeah, I can understand that. I'm not crazy abouth the ocean when it's all murky and you can't see what's swimming around you. Fish might get hungry ;o}

Alexandramou:
There's been a lot of shark attacks and a couple of guys killed this year by great white sharks! The last surfer guy killed was only 19 years old on Oct. 19, 2010 in Santa Barbara. It was horrible! :>(
11 Nov, 2010
Right, I see me liking chlorine water more and more....(yuk)
I've only heard of one shark beeing caught here and that's in 17 years, and it was small.
Seriously though, that is really sad. But people still go surfing where it is dangerous....but sometimes you just never know.
11 Nov, 2010
Alexandramou:
Yes, people still go surfacing even if there's shark sightings. If someone is attacked or killed from a shark...the beach gets closed for 3 or 4 days.
