Looks like you may have some open land behind..can see some wonderful golden trees back there! And I can see the birds are well catered for. Lovely carpet of grass, which always helps in winter..doesnt look bare..very gentle and peaceful feel..

Hi Tetrarch, Thanks for your kind words! yes we have a good aspect behind us, school playing fields and a park beyond. It makes for good sunsets and pretty views. Main disadvantage is that the ground slopes towards us, which means excessive water occasionally and also we are in a frost pocket. In the recent frosts our hydrangeas were decimated whereas in the rest of Cardiff they seem to have survived : ( Hey ho, thats life!

Ideal if we had droughts..unfortunately we dont get many of those!! Have to dig and deep ditch and fill with stones if only life were that simple, and we had the energy..as you say, thats life!
We usually get the same weather as you, so going to be a roughish one tomorrow!

It certainly was - I have been out on a couple of "health walks" with my successor ; driving rain, gusty winds etc etc. I am glad to be home.
