I did a search of my own & found interesting information on the Wikipedia site:

Apparently it is known as Plumeria in English. It seems it has scent at night to attract moths that fertilize it.

Balcony...Im in Essex and trying patiently to grow Plumeria...They are reputed to be the most perfumed flower in the world. My oldest seedling...now 5 feet high has yet to flower so I still havent found out...but we gardeners have the utmost patience.....Lol

That's really great news, Milky! I didn't think they could be grown over here - outside a hot greenhouse! What conditions are your seedlings growing in?

If you have a seedling 5 years old which hasn't bloomed yet then you have even more patience than me. My Amaryllis seedlings took 4 years from germination to flower.

I think they are known for the perfume Balcony, when I worked as a florist they could be bought like Stephenotis, & used in wedding work. In those days they would be sold in a punnet like peaches, & it would just be the cluster of flowers on damp cotton wool.

That's very interesting, Pamd! I didn't know they had been used for anything over here! I'd never even seen them till the photo appeared by default on my wife's laptop. I got her to email it to me & I had it as my desktop wallpaper for some months.
