Lantana grows wild here in many areas. This plant germinated from birds 3 years ago or so. I usually pull them out, but this time I allowed it to grow. Photo taken Nov. 16, 2010.

That about the size I pull them out...any larger they become difficult to pull out.

I know how you feel Dottydaisy...I find our summer is just not long enough for them to get established.

Do Lantana shrubs not bloom well there?

We have plants growing in the Temperate House at Kew,and they are sometimes used as summer bedding. I have grown them at home but they never survive our winter.

They are not really hardy in colder climates...as they are native to tropical America. Do they bloom well there in the U.K?

It's so pretty, D1... why not grow it? If the birds brought it...bonus!!

Lori:
Lantana is a very weedy large shrub. It germinates everywhere and can kill off other plants.

I'll take a pic of the very large one around the corner from where I live...it is huge at 18ft x 15ft. or slightly large. It's probably the parent to this one in the pic.
