this small island is to the far north of our island at low tide you can walk out to it. the remains of a pictish settlement and a viking settlement are exposed on the southern side of the island

yesterday and today we got heavy snowfalls, but this was taken a week ago, wish I had taken my camera out today the hills on Hoy looked wonderful covered in snow

we don't usually get much snow here, but last year it was bad and this year is looking like it could be the same, with more snow being forecast. most years we only get two or three days of snow

I checked out your older photos - amazing that anything remains from over 1000 years ago! Have you read Adam Nicolson's "Sea Room," about his experiences on the Shiant Islands? The history of that place is fascinating.

we have remains of buildings here that are older than the pyramids, the village of Scara Brae is a good example. I haven't read the book but will have a look on the net as I am quite keen on archeology.
