Meanie- It does take a little patience...but if you get frustrated w it you can set it down... and come back for another try later. Plus, once you know the recipe...it just takes time, plus beads and wire to accomplish :)
Thanks ladies, I've got a thing for dragonflies...so I do enjoy making these little guys. I give them as gifts and keep them around my house as plant decorations. I also make scorpions, praying mantis, ants, spiders, centipedes. I'm pretty sure they're all posted on here somewhere in my many, many photos!

Patience is a weird and wonderful thing - I can spend hours pricking out the tiniest seedlings, or sanding wood by hand, yet my first two computers ended up smouldering on the floor just because they froze (anyone remember Windows'98?).

Janey- Because of the small beads that I use, I can only use very thin wire to make them. So they are more life-sized. Would love to make a huge one for the garden though... been thinking of ideas for something like that, like working w different materials. Thought of using recycled material, such as glass bottles as beads...haven't come up w a master plan yet.

LOL Meanie! Throwing it across the room would def count as setting it down ;~) But then you would have to reshape all the work that you had already done...therefore it might be better to just set it down gently and walk away :) These are very fragile and can be bent very easily. We have patience for the things we love, Meanie :) I'm completely w you on the lack of patience for computers... although none have mine have ended up smouldering on the floor, LOL...yet anyway!

I had made quite a few of these a while back. Just recently made this one and one other. On my pages 110-111 way, way back I have photos of some of the others that I have made. I'm glad you like my little insects and hope you enjoy the photos :)

Lovely, well done with your talent. A big one for the garden sounds good. Pity you can't melt plastic into large coloured balls and thread them on to thick wire. Don't know if you could cut plastic into strips and stick it into bead shapes.

Thanks Lindak :) Still thinking of ideas for the large garden dragonfly. I have a friend that does scultures out of wire. Thicker gauge wire than I use for these, but his scultures are pretty cool without any beads at all. So that's another posibility.
