What a lovely set of photos and collection of plants. I wonder what sort of conditions they are growing in?

Thank you both. Gee - most of our Hamamelis are growing in open, bright conditions. The soil is a mixture of clay and river silt, nutritious but can be quite wet, particularly right now! I'll photograph & add some more varieties as the flowers open.

Thanks for the info, Ilex. I have heavy clay soil and am looking for something different that will cope with the often water logged conditions. Sounds promising :)

Hi again Gee, I should say that Hamamelis don't cope well with water-logging - ours are on a slope so that they never actually sit in water. A part of our garden is almost permanently water-logged, though, and we've been trying all sorts of plants there with varying success.
These are the shrubs (and trees) that are thriving in our water-logged clay areas: Azalea viscosum, Viburnum opulus (many varieties) Viburnum sargentianum, Aronias, Liquidambars, Nyssas, Cornus alba varieties, Salix alba britzensis, Metasequoia, Taxodium, Vaccinium corymbosum.
