More Aconites

I like these, do they grow in any soil, just going onto my favs,

how pretty i must have some amy lol, will check them out at weekend, hope i can get some :o)

These are lovely..they look like they spread?

You buy them in the green like snowdrops 100 a go
i bought some last spring only seen one up to now plenty of time
Spritz bought some as well not heard if hers are coming up

Thanks everyone --- As far as I now they will grow in any soil Yorkshire , They do spread Tet , I have more each year , Bjs I read an article the other day that said you should never buy snowdrops in the green .. Advice from John Grimshaw -- The Garden MAgazine ..... he says~~ quote : lifting snowdrops 'in the green 'damages roots at a vital stage ,weakening the plant and preventing full recovery .... I'm pleased yours are coming Dawn they will spread nicely for you and will look lovely around your trees . :o))

They are so pretty Amy with the collar of green....mine seemed to have disappeared the last couple of years.....

Im not surprised at that article Amy, I have had one raise its head and we planted at least 20! But got them from T&M...another "not a surprise"!!

I totally agree this certainly is what happens when they are dug up in bulk,but equally they dont often grow well after being dried out for months.
To increase the the clumps around the garden i lift and seperate them with care and they flower and increase the following year.it is also quite difficult to pin point them once they have died back down.

I agree with you Bjs , I've always done it your way with no problems , as you say it's so difficult to find them once they have died down , last Autumn I tried finding some snowdrop bulbs for someone ,it was like looking for a needle in a haystack .. ;o)
That's not good Tet . it makes you wonder what they put in these packs , hang on to that one it will double up another year .. It's a shame you have lost your to Janey :o((

I shouldve told you Amy...that lone snowdrop didnt appear this year..guess he went to the big snowdrop fields in the sky!

Ahh well, the one consolation is that Ive contributed mightily to that heavenly snowdrop field!!

Tet. Never mind i have some coming into flower for you,I have given a lot away and no one has ever failed with them yet ,Mind you jamie and I will oversea the planting to make sure you plant them with the bulbs at the bottom so as the roots can take up water and the sun shines on the leaves, having said that today it would not make much difference which way up they were.

Oh Bj, what a grand man you are..wasnt dropping hints, honest..Ive actually got some primrose seeds..put them in freezer for few hours then relegated to fridge..hope that makes them think it's still high winter..will plant them in trays in couple of days...so you see I'm really trying here!

Oh great, just realised..will be seeing Jamie again soon..must find him a new toy! I guess Pauline would prefer NOT a squeaky one?

Jamie says it must squeak even if its a tennis ball and not to worry about Pauline as he is in charge.

Lovely picture Amy, mine are flowering too, although leave it till they increase a bit to take a picture they look a bit lost,lol.
I've planted loads of snowdrops in the green over the past ten years since we moved here, keep splitting and dividing and buying a few each year,gradually trying to fill our small wood, looking at them today we're getting there, never had any problems they always flower the next year.

Thanks Gee ! That's good to know Kathy , I often move them in the green as well ,I don't think it does them any harm providing you dig some soil up with them and are careful , your wood will look fantastic when it is established :o))
